Active Shooter Awareness Seminar

With the unfortunate events surrounding active shooters in the workplace, it is essential that your staff is prepared.  Those critical first minutes are crucial to survival to potential victims and possible casualties.

Utilizing a combination of video and lecture, APG’s premier seminar “Deterring and Responding to Active Shooters, Are You Prepared?” focuses on emergency responder and facility coordination, interoperability capabilities, communications protocols, best practices and integration of local assets as they relate to active shooters in the workplace.

For hospitals, the Joint Commission Resources’ “NEST” acronym is reviewed as well as relevant information from the Department of Homeland Security.  For schools, specific response protocols relative to the Department of Education and College and University Public Safety Association (CUPSA) are reviewed.

This seminar is facilitated by Scott A. Hemingway.  Mr. Hemingway, a former Lieutenant of the Rhode Island State Police, is well-versed in active shooter training having received formal training from the United States Secret Service and Masada Tactical – The Israeli approach.  He currently holds certification in the following disciplines:

  • Nonviolent Physical Crisis Intervention (CPI)™
